Ceramic Care Instructions

Each piece I make is handmade and one of a kind. This means that, unlike industrial ceramics, your items need a bit of extra love and attention. Here are some things you can do to take care of your pieces:

  • Hand wash only, with warm, soapy water. Do not use abrasive scrubbers or similar tools, as these can damage the surface of your pieces. Rinse thoroughly and air dry or dry with a soft cloth.

  • Do not put your pieces in the microwave or dishwasher, which can damage the surface of your pieces or cause them to crack over time.

  • Avoid sudden temperature changes, which can cause your pieces to crack. When serving hot liquids, first rinse your piece with warm water to acclimate it to the temperature of the liquids.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to acidic foods, which can degrade the quality of the glaze over time. Eating a meal with tomato or vinegar is fine, for example, but be sure to wash your dishes promptly to prevent excessive exposure.

  • For sculptures and figurines, bring your pieces inside when it is excessively cold or wet to prolong the lifespan of your pieces.

  • When not in use, store your ceramics in a cool, dry place. Do not stack cups.

As with any piece of art, ceramics are susceptible to wear and tear over time. In the event of damage or breakage, I do not guarantee a refund or exchange, but I am happy to work with you to determine the best path forward.
