Hi! I’m Charlie (he/him), the artist behind Helix Clay. I’m an independent ceramicist and proud Bay Area local. I was born and raised in the East Bay, and currently live and work in San Francisco. In a previous life, I’ve been a student organizer, a sexual health and domestic violence peer educator, a community mental health first responder, an event planner, and so much more. I’ve always been an artist and kept art close to my heart, but began my ceramics journey in earnest at the City College of San Francisco, where I am currently pursuing an associate’s degree in Studio Arts. Today, I work out of a local studio to produce △10R (cone ten reduction) stoneware goods to decorate your homes and brighten your days.

Each piece I make is one of a kind, but my work is grounded in dynamic forms with a deep sense of texture and lively splashes of surface decoration. While I enjoy sculpture and art for art’s sake, I am at my proudest when my work combines form, function, and (most importantly) fun. I want each piece I make to be as enjoyable to touch and use as it is to look at.
